Art Basel Miami Beach, which just concluded this Sunday, 10 December, is an international art fair and a globally known event that features art from the 20th and 21st centuries and works in conjunction with the most reputable galleries around the world. Being a first-timer at Art Basel Miami Beach, I was impressed with the level of sophistication and abundance of innovative presentations from both emerging talents and seasoned exhibitors. I saw an amazing selection of large-scale paintings, immersive digital installations, and mind-blowing sculptures!
At a ritzy Faena Hotel Miami Beach, where we stayed, the hotel’s nonprofit Faena Art put works by digital artists Beeple and Sebastian Errazuriz in its lobby, with an additional massive installation by Errazuriz on the beach.
The “Maze”, which is Errazuriz’s beach installation was super impressive and one of a kind, attracting thousands of people in miles-long queues on the evening when visitors were allowed to walk through it.

Another one of my favorites was “Utopia” by Lara Bohinc displayed in Miami Design District.
“Utopia” was Bohinc’s first public commission in the USA and span four installations featuring irregular, bulbous forms, spread out across the district - all very Instagrammable of course.

Miami Beach Convention Centre also showcased some thought-provoking artwork. I loved the works of the Italian masters Carla Accardi and Alighiero Boetti. One could spend hours and hours in each gallery, mesmerized by the sheer beauty and passion imprinted in each art piece.
But as much as the daytime was devoted to the actual art, the evenings here brought some of the best music sets and parties. The line-up included DJ icon Fatboy Slim performing at Wynwood Walls, Anitta at Jungle Plaza, George Clinton at the PAMM, and the list goes on. The parties here are not for the faint-hearted and - in true Miami style - go on late into the morning!
